In this modern, queer reinterpretation of Tchaikovsky’s opera, Martin Willibald Meisl deconstructs the classic character of Lisa. The film transforms the tragic original into a psychological study in which Lisa undergoes a painful process of emotional catharsis. Through a visually condensed aesthetic, her liberation from outdated role models and internal constraints is portrayed as a radical act of self-discovery.
